Two Whole Months

Maddy has now passed the two month mark. She's a full on baby now.

happy girl!

Sometimes I look at her and think she is so tiny... and then I remember how tiny she was two months ago and I can barely wrap my mind around it. Where has the time gone? Who's been giving her the steroids?

Let's review shall we?

(excuse the awful lighting and terribly composed pictures...)

Her transformation from wrinkly old man to rounded out baby boy is amazing! Haha. People here have a hard time discerning whether she is a boy or a girl and when they go with their instincts they usually pick her for a boy. A boy wrapped in pink. It's okay. She's looks like a mini-Derrald and I totally looked like a boy when I was a baby. No one confuses me for a boy now. She'll grow into her girl.

(it's taken me two weeks to post this so I now have a 10 week old...gah!)

A Romantic Valentine's Day Brunch for... three?

Derrald struck it lucky this year and got to celebrate this Valentine's Day with not just one but TWO girls! As we adjust to the wonderful world of parenthood we have realised we need to adjust more than our schedules, we need to adjust our mindset as well. The "romantic dinner for two" was simply not in the cards this V-day so we took advantage of our daughter's sweet morning disposition (as opposed to her nightly freakout one) and headed to Sai Kung for a "delicious brunch for three".

We sat al fresco and were even serenaded... by this lot:

If I were an evil spirit I'd be scared off by this guy!
For those of you who have never experienced a dragon dance before, imagine taking all the pots and pans in your kitchen and hitting them together to create a complete raucous. The dragon goes store to store where the shop owners give money and then the dragon eats some cabbage and scares away the evil spirits. Not quite a "string quartet" but whatever.

I worried that Madeline would be disturbed by the crazy noise but a quick peak in her stroller confirmed she can sleep through anything when she puts her mind to it.

I covered her ears with my pashmina in an attempt to protect her delicate hearing... worked like a charm.

Later, after all the excitement had passed, she woke and joined us. We had a lovely day (despite the rain) and she rewarded us that evening by sleeping her longest night yet - from 8pm till 6:30am!! Of course, I didn't sleep that long. I had to keep getting up to check on her like a nervous nelly. Can't wait to start making these nights a habit!

My two loves (not including chocolate):

Christmas Come Early

So I'm writing a December post in February.

I think you'll let me off the hook on this one because the last two months I've been a little bit busy... birthing my first child and becoming a parent. What a shock to the system parenthood is eh?

Our delicious bundle of joy arrived seven days late on December 19th. I won't go into her story just yet because I want to write a post just for her.

This post is about Christmas.

Our first Christmas as a family of three.

Sadly, we didn't document as much of the season as I would have liked. We had my mum staying with us for Christmas day and she slaved away in the kitchen making all sorts of delights while we vegetated and tended to the little dragon girl now demanding so much of our time and attention.

We also started a new Christmas tradition. Ebelskivers!! For breakfast. With nutella and lemon curd in the center. SO GOOD!! Mum found the recipe here and it was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Madeline's first Christmas present was a little dragon ornament to go on the tree. A Christmas dragon ornament for our Christmas dragon baby.

Thanks to Nana Ramona for this little outfit. We had a tough time getting her in it (she's making her resisting face) but it was totally worth it.
