Our July Visitor

One of my favorite spots to take visitors to in HK is the Chi Lin Nunnery/Nan Lian Gardens in Diamond Hill. We've had Kay visiting with us this week and while he's not really your traditional HK tourist, more of a "part time resident", he and Derrald have never been to Chi Lin before so on a deceptively HOT day, seriously, we were melting, we braved the outdoors long enough to wander through the urban garden.

Just two scholars among the gardens, among the skyscrapers.
Behind the waterfall is the restaurant that serves up traditional vegetarian Buddhist fare.

Behind my belly is a child. (20 wks)
The Typhoon Vicente that struck HK earlier this week with it's T10 warnings and havoc wreaking winds somewhat thwarted our original plans to explore the worlds fourth tallest commercial building - ICC tower in TST. However, not ones to give up easily we braved the rain and shook our fists at the clouds on Tuesday evening and decided to take a ride up the Sky Tower, views or no views. As it turned out, we had a wonderful time. The lights of HK are always a marvel and the clouds backed off enough to let us see all the way out to Tsing Yi bridge. We also conveniently timed our visit with the 8pm harbour light show. Awesome.

This lift takes you up 100 floors in 60 seconds. You barely feel a thing... although I popped my ears three times.

A unique view of HK harbour.

They wouldn't let me buy the cheesy commercial photograph they take of you at the entrance where you are forced to give the thumbs up and fireworks are photoshopped into the background... even though it was awesome. So you'll have to use your imagination. Add fireworks.

  1. Every woman in the world who has ever carried a child in her womb HATES you, Hayley. You look FANTASTIC!!!! You are so, so, so beautiful. Sure, the joy of living has been ripped from you with every wave of nausea, but you wear it SO well. Any movement from that serene baby?!?
